Frequently Asked Questions

The Self-Determination Program allows individuals with disabilities to have greater control over their services and supports. It enables you to decide who provides your care, how services are delivered, and how your budget is managed, giving you the freedom to live life on your terms.

 

Individuals who are clients of regional centers and eligible for services under the Lanterman Act can participate in the Self-Determination Program. Your regional center service coordinator can help determine if you qualify and guide you through the enrollment process.

Unlike traditional services where the regional center decides on your care, the SDP allows you to choose and manage your services. This means you have more flexibility in selecting who supports you and how your resources are spent, creating a more personalized approach to your care.

The first step is attending an orientation provided by the State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD). After that, our team at Connections With Care will guide you through the enrollment process, including budgeting and selecting service providers.

Yes! The SDP is designed to be flexible. You can adjust your plan, budget, and services as your needs or goals change. Our team is here to help you revise your plan to ensure it continues to meet your unique needs.
