What a journey it's been. 21 years of struggling to navigate the system and what resources are available to my daughter. Connections With Care held my hand through it all. Corie is a Mother of a Special Needs individual and has intently listened and comprehends our joys and struggles on a deeper level. With ease she has moved us through Self Determination and so quickly my head is still spinning. When a few respite people became unavailable, I went through the same disappointment I have been through a dozen times before. Within 24 hours the team onboarded a qualified friend who has been my saving grace. Samantha is able to thrive and feel independent with aides and services provided by the team. I am able to breathe easier and spend quality time with my 3 other children. I am deeply moved by the love and expertise I have experienced with CWC!

Corie has been extremely helpful in guiding me through my very difficult situation. With her guidance, I was able to develop a wonderful program for my adult son. My daughter moved into the Self Determination Program a little over a year ago. While searching the list of Independent Facilitators in my area, I was drawn to Connections with Care. In reading over the philosophy of CWC, I felt a ‘connection’ with Corie Slawson because she was also the parent of an adult child with special needs. We parents share much in common even when we have never met each other. I sent an email requesting her support. I have not been disappointed! Having Corie on my daughter’s care team has been a real blessing. Speaking of my daughter’s team; Corie has built a team of five caring for my daughter 24 hours a day. She posted the job openings, reviewed resumes, checked references, interviewed potential candidates and only then sent the best to me for interviewing. I don’t know how Corie does it, but she finds the best people!

We signed on with Connections with Care in early 2022 when feeling overwhelmed trying to help our adult special needs daughter manage life skills at home, meet requirements at work for job security, and navigate interpersonal relationships. She has a diagnosis of spectrum challenges (ADHD, Asperger's, anxiety), was on meds and in therapy but we were frustrated with the lack of progress and clueless as to how to plan for any kind of independent future for her. We then were introduced to Corie through a friend. Initially signing up with her to provide Special Needs Life Coaching for our daughter, what we got has been so much more because of Corie's skills and amazing network! She now has health care and Cal-Fresh in place and has been accepted into Regional Center which provides funding for long term job coaching and support, internship opportunities, various kinds of therapy, life skills training, community integration support, and independent living connections. Corie opened the doors for acceptance in the Self Determination option through Regional so our daughter can now hire her own support team directed by her Independent Facilitator, Corie Slawson! Corie has become our family's rock, lightening rod, guardian angel, and guide. Connections with Care is a perfect description for a concept that lives up to it's name!

Connections for Care has literally paved the way for our family with care, professionalism and loving support. From the first call I had with Corie I knew that I had finally found an advocate that cared and and had the person experience and knowledge required to navigate the journey I had traveled on my own for 20 years. My son Aiden is 22 years old and is living an independent joy filled life due to Corie’s diligence and guidance. She has supported us every step of the way. My son Aiden moved to North County two years ago with zero to no services but with the support of Connections with Care Aiden is living a full independent life. Corie and her team have walked us through every step of process, finding and securing funds to not only support Aiden that creates space for him to grow and expand. We could never have imagined , that Aiden would be living independently in his own studio apartment after only 1.5 years but he is killing it due to the amazing team. he has around him.
